According to research of Engineer Juri Loog from Tallinn, Estonia at least 5260 standard gauge
locomotives with DRB numbers alone to NKPS / MPS.
To say nothing of Japanese ( from Manchuria and Korea ),
Roumanian, Hungarian, Serbian, Italian, French, Belgian,
Dutch, English, Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, Swedish and Norwegian locomotives.
To this figure you must add also all which went to RATC
( Red Army Transportation Corps ) and to other Ministries
than NKPS / MPS and to large Combinates and Berijaґs
Gulag Zh.D. The figure is over 6000 standard gauge locos,
and more than 1000 narrow gauge locomotives from various
East European Countries.
There were also Finnish 1524mm gauge locomotives.
